Community Meeting on Hunting in Conservation Areas
December 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Please come to this important meeting to learn about the City of Northampton’s proposal to expand hunting in conservation areas and to express your views about the proposal.
When: Tuesday, December 19th, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Where: Leeds Elementary School Cafetorium
Who: Hosted by the Leeds Civic Association and Ward 7 City Councilor Alisa Klein; speaker will be Wayne Feiden, Northampton’s Director of Planning and Sustainability.
More information: Northampton is currently considering a proposal to permit hunting in two conservation areas in the City. Both of these areas are in Leeds – a 40-acre parcel south of Beaver Brook and a portion of the Mineral Hills Conservation Area off of Chesterfield Road. The proposal also includes the possible expansion of the types of hunting permitted in the Beaver Brook Greenway off of Route 9, where only bow hunting is currently allowed. Wayne Feiden of the City’s Planning Department will come with detailed maps and information to share with us and there will be ample time to ask questions and voice opinions after his presentation.
