The Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area (FLCA) offers seasonal opportunities for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, bird-watching, canoeing, and fishing. FLCA contains a 40-acre artificial lake, as well as forest, open meadows, and wetland habitats.
Trail information and maps are available at parking areas on North Farms Road, Cooke Avenue, Marian Street, and Coles Meadow Road. Visitors can follow well-marked trails around the lake, through the woods, to the open meadows of Cooke’s Pasture, and to the bird blind’s peaceful outlook over Broad Brook’s cattail marsh. FLCA features a newly restored accessible bridge and boardwalk reachable via a paved path from North Farms Road.
BBC and the Northampton Conservation Commission have a memorandum of understanding for the stewardship, protection, preservation, management, and maintenance of the Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area.
